Introducing Embedded 3G from Vodafone and Acer
Embedded 3G is the next logical step from 3G cards; embedded 3G integrates everything into the laptop rather than having to have a 3G card.
Embedded 3G comes with full WWAN connectivity through three-band GPRS/EDGE capability at 900/1800/1900 MHz and at 2100 MHz through integrated 3G Wideband CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access).
As mobile technology is under constant development, the integrated 3G capability of the TravelMate and Aspire notebooks is also upgradeable to the next-generation HSDPA standard.
HSDPA is a migration technology for the UMTS wireless standard used by wireless operators across Europe, Japan and North America. This new protocol offers five times as much data traffic and up to twice as many wireless users per cell site compared with the present UMTS networks.
How does it work?
Everything you need to connect is already installed in your laptop – including a SIM card, software, and an antenna built into the screen. So all you need to do is switch on your laptop and click a desktop icon. It’s that easy.
